The Chefs’ Manifesto
The Chefs’ Manifesto is a chef-led network, facilitated by the SDG2 Advocacy Hub, bringing together 1500+ chefs from over 93 countries to explore how they can help deliver a sustainable food system. With one in three people malnourished globally and a food production system damaging the planet, chefs, farmers, policymakers, and world leaders need to work together to deliver a sustainable, nutritious, and delicious food future. As chefs bridge the gap between farm and fork, they are natural advocates! The Chefs’ Manifesto empowers chefs with a framework tied to the SDGs and consisting of simple, practical actions:
- Ingredients grown with respect for the earth & its oceans
- Protection of biodiversity & improved animal welfare
- Investment in livelihoods
- Value natural resources & reduce waste
- Celebration of local & seasonal food
- A focus on plant-based ingredients
- Education on food safety, healthy diets & nutritious cooking
- Nutritious food that is accessible & affordable for all
These 8 areas are nothing new to chefs; there is already a lot of great activity happening in these areas. The Chefs’ Manifesto seeks to profile their work, shared learnings, and best practices as well as empower chefs everywhere to be advocates for a sustainable food system.

Beans is How is an ambitious campaign to double the global consumption of beans (as well as peas, lentils and other pulses) by 2028. The campaign amplifies the importance of beans as a simple, affordable solution to our global financial, health and environmental challenges while uplifting policy and academic research and galvanising stakeholder action.
Beans are a simple, affordable solution to our global health, climate and cost of living challenges.
- BEANS ARE NUTRITIOUS: they are rich in protein, dietary fibre and micronutrients including iron, potassium and B vitamins like folate, which is great for gut health. They have no cholesterol, and are low in fat.
- BEANS ARE GOOD FOR THE PLANET: They are shelf-stable and store for long periods of time dry, canned, jarred, in pouches, frozen and in flour form, which helps in fighting food waste. Incorporating beans into agricultural practices can improve soil and water quality, reducing the need for synthetic fertilisers by converting atmospheric nitrogen into a plant usable form. They are also water efficient.
- BEANS ARE CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE and VERSATILE: Beans have been part of many global cuisines for millennia. They can be prepared and incorporated into a variety of foods including meals, desserts, snacks, sauces, spreads and even beverages.
- Beans are DELICIOUS!
The Burnt Chef
The Burnt Chef Project is a global, non profit social enterprise dedicated to stamping out mental health stigma within the global hospitality industry through education and awareness, and by providing support to those who may be struggling with their wellbeing.
